Could you be our New Charity Trustee?

About Me2 Club:

Our Vision is ‘Inclusion for All’ children and teenagers with additional needs and disabilities.

Every year, Me2 Club matches over 100 children who have additional needs or disabilities with committed and passionate volunteers to help them attend and take part in mainstream leisure activities. We tackle the impact of exclusion and social isolation experienced by children and young people and help build their confidence, self-esteem and independence.

About the role:

As a member of the Board of Trustees you will be jointly responsible for the legal, effective and safe running of Me2 Club. Working with other Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer you will provide strategic leadership to a growing and ambitious charity. As one of our ‘guardians of purpose’ you’ll make sure that all our decisions put the needs of children and their families first.

Trustees must make sure that they have all the information they need to lead the charity. Most of this is provided by the Chief Executive, for the Trustee Board meetings, which take place every six weeks. At these meetings, the accounts and any other important matters are discussed and decisions made where necessary.

If necessary, advice may be taken from other sources. Trustees are not expected to be experts in every area of Me2 Club’s work, but they have a duty to obtain the information that will enable them to oversee it responsibly.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be passionate about ensuring inclusion for all children and teenagers
  • Have a wealth of experience or specialist skills that you want to share with a local charity
  • Be a strategic thinker and see the bigger picture
  • Be willing to support the organisation develop it’s approach to performance management, HR and employment practices

We would particularly welcome applications from Parent/Carers to help represent and share the views and experiences of children and families, ensuring that they influence decisions at a strategic level and grounding the Board of Trustees in the needs of children and families and HR professionals who can support our Chief Executive Officer in ensuring we meet our legal requirements and implement best practice in our HR functions.
