Teens take on life skills on our ‘Weekend Away’
On Saturday we took 7 of our teenagers on a residential trip to Green Park Activity Centre. Before heading to Green Park, as part of learning valuable life skills, we went to the shops to buy food for our evening barbecue. On arrival at Green Park we headed to our first activity, Trebuchet Building. The teenagers split into teams to build their trebuchet before seeing who could catapult their tennis balls furthest. Next we headed to the climbing wall where all the teenagers got the chance to climb, even the volunteers and staff had a go too! After climbing it was time to prepare our barbecue. The teenagers chopped up the vegetables to make veggie kebabs and some helped cooking the food on the barbecue. They also cut up fruit for kebabs to dip into the chocolate fountain. In the evening, we set up a cinema screen and watched a film while some of the teenagers enjoyed painting their nails. On Sunday, we started the day with archery before heading to the zip wire. Many of the teenagers braved the zip wire while others managed to get to the top of the tower and enjoy the view. Our final activity was mountain biking where everyone got the chance to try some adapted bikes before getting on the coach to come home. The funding was kindly received from Berkshire Community Foundation via the NHS Berkshire West Fund for Carers Respite Breaks. To see more photos from the weekend click here.
Sunday was the annual Wokingham Walk! This year Me2 Club was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the event. Liz, along with some Fundraising Friends, were there on the day to spread the word about the work we do and to cheer on everyone taking part. A huge thank you to the Pocket Rockets, who walked the 5 mile course for Me2 Club and have raised an amazing total of over £200!
There is still places available for teams to join our Charity Quiz Night on 14th June. Come along and enjoy a fun and light-hearted quiz with a Fish and Chip supper. Tickets are £15 and need to be purchased in advance by emailing Liz.
