There are a number of organisations in the local area who support young people with additional needs, click on the links below to find out further information.
The Local Offer – Gives children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities and their families information about what support is available in the local area.
ASD Family Help – A user led, independent, voluntary group that offers free support and advice to individuals on the autistic spectrum, their parents, carers and professionals within Wokingham Borough.
ASSIST – (Autism Spectrum Service for Information, Support & Training) Part of the Learning Difficulties and Disabilities Service of Wokingham Borough Council Children’s Services. Supports children and young people with autism, their families, and the people who work with them from diagnosis up to their 18th birthday.
Berkshire Autism – Deliver quality specialist services, training and social and leisure activities throughout the county for people with Autism and their families.
Camp Mohawk – A multi-functional day centre just outside of Wargrave for children with additional needs and their families.
CAN Network – Are part of Wokingham Borough Council and provide an information and support service for children and young people (up to age 25) and their families. Children and Young people do not need to have a diagnosis to join the CAN Network.
CLASP – (Caring, Listening and Supporting Partnership) A self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough.
Dingley’s Promise – Provide support to under 5’s with additional needs and their families. by providing specialist learning through play, family support, and training to build wider inclusion. Centres in Wokingham, Reading and Newbury.
First Days – Collect pre-loved baby clothes, toys, equipment and furniture and redistribute them to those who need them.
Growing Places – A horticultural project based in Stratfield Turgis, near Basingstoke, which aims to promote independence and build confidence by developing skills in gardening.
Homestart Wokingham – Provide volunteers to support families with young children, the volunteers spend around two hours in the family home each week.
Parenting Special Children – Offer specialist parenting support to families of children and young people with additional needs in Berkshire.
Norwood Ravenswood – Offers a lifelong learning service for adults with learning disabilities. Focuses on developing independence through life skills courses and employment services.
Rose Buddies – An information service for adults with a learning disability who live in the Wokingham Borough and receive little or no Community Care Services. They provide practical support as well as support with keeping safe in the community and developing personal skills.
Thumbs Up Club – A holiday club based in Woodley that runs during Easter and summer holidays for children between the ages of 3-19 with a statement.
Wokingham, Bracknell and Districts Mencap – Provide a range of services for people with learning disabilities including; information, carer and family support, activities for children and adults with learning disabilities, siblings’ support, activities for adults with autism, activities for carers, as well as campaigning on local and national issues.
