Our volunteer stories

After receiving funding from The Big Lottery, Me2 Club commissioned Richard Usher of Just Ideas Sustainable Solutions to complete an external evaluation of our work. The aim was to assess the difference we make to the lives of children and young people with additional needs and their families, looks at what works well and what could be improved. The evaluation found that Me2 Club has established a strong reputation for effective support with families, volunteers and external organisations in enabling children and young people with additional needs to access mainstream activities. We have already received some great feedback about the report and if you would like to take a look the full document it can be found on our About Us Page. Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, activity leaders and stakeholders who took part.

Over the last few weeks we have been asking some of our volunteers to share their experiences of volunteering with Me2 Club, what they have gained from it and how they feel their matched young person has benefited. It’s been inspiring to hear their enthusiasm for helping others and the difference they are making. Some of their stories are now available on the Volunteering page under Volunteering Stories and we will be publishing more over the next few weeks.

On Tuesday 22nd August our Activities and Volunteers Coordinator Leanne is running a Signing Workshop in Woodley, from 5.30-8pm, which is available to all our current volunteers. Even if you don’t use signing directly with your matched child it’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill. To reserve your place on the course email Leanne on or us call on 01189 696369.

“S enjoys taking part in activities that they did not like to do before, like cooking and taking part in big group games. Instead of always sitting in the corner they are now able to join the group without me even encouraging them to do so.”
