MP calls Me2 Club “Inspiring”
This week, we had a visit from Matt Rodda MP for Reading East, to talk about the work Me2 Club undertakes in his constituency for families and children with additional needs. We would like to thank Matt for coming to speak with us about the challenges facing young people with additional needs and helping us to get the word out about what we do. After his visit Matt said “I find the work of Me2 inspiring and look forward to doing more work with them.” He also praised our volunteers for the ‘invaluable’ work they do helping young people to get involved. Matt’s visit was covered in the Reading Chronicle this week, click here to see what else Matt had to say about us and the coverage of our nomination for Tesco’s Bags of Help Grant Scheme.
We would also like to thank Cllr. Mark Ashwell, Executive Member for Children’s Services at Wokingham Borough Council, for visiting Me2 Club this week and talking with us about the implications of changes to the Short Breaks Service, which will come into force in April this year. For more information on the changes to the scheme click here.
We have also confirmed places on our Teenager Day Away and Weekend Away this week. We look forward to seeing the young people at the Day Away planning meeting in February to decide what activities they want to do in Bristol. Thank you, to the volunteers who have offered to go away with us on these trips, we could not run them without you and we will be in contact with you all soon to confirm who will be coming.
If anyone has any unwanted Christmas Presents we are looking for raffle prizes and would be grateful for any donations, big or small! Please contact Liz@me2club.org.uk or call the office on 0118 9696 369.
Lastly, if any activity leaders, or people who work with children with additional needs, are interested in attending training on making their work more inclusive; Tess is running a workshop on Managing Emotions and Sensory Processing on January 31st, click here to buy a ticket or email email@example.com for more information.
