Me2 Club on That’s Thames Valley TV!

Last weekend we took our Me2 Club teenagers on a Weekend Away to Littlehampton to help develop their independence and life skills. We were very lucky with the weather and the sun shined for most of the time we were there. The trip started with a scenic walk across the seaside to Mewsbrook Park where we took a ride on the pedalos. Other activities included a ride on the miniature railway, adventure golf, dinner at an Italian restaurant, games on the beach and a trip to the very popular Harbour Park fairground. Thank you to the trustees of The Margaret Dobson Further Education Trust for funding the trip.

On Thursday we had an exciting visit from ‘That’s Thames Valley TV’, who came to speak to us about a recent grant we received from the Big Lottery Fund and about how we support families in the Wokingham Borough. The video clip will be available online next week, so keep an eye on our social media pages!

Today our activities and Volunteers Coordinators Jess and Nikki have been at Reading School for the first recruitment talk of the new academic year. We had a great response, with lots of people interested in volunteering and fundraising with us. Over the next few months we will be visiting a number of other 6th forms and colleges in the local area to promote our upcoming Volunteer Induction Training sessions, which will be taking place on Saturday 14th October (9am-5pm) and 13/15th November (5-9pm). If you or someone you know is interested in making a difference to a young person’s life then visit our volunteering page to find out how to get involved.

“S enjoys taking part in activities that they did not like to do before, like cooking and taking part in big group games. Instead of always sitting in the corner they are now able to join the group without me even encouraging them to do so.”
