Match updates

The weeks following any Volunteer Induction Training are always busy in the Me2 Club office. Since training our new recruits on 14th October we have had all of them into the office for interviews and have submitted their DBS checks.

After the training session we also had a matching meeting to think about which young person our volunteers will support. We think about a variety of different factors when matching including; availability, location, transport and whose personalities will work well with who. Out of our 16 new volunteers we have contacted 15 of them regarding a potential match and 11 of these have confirmed that they are happy to go ahead. For these 11 volunteers, we have contacted all the families to share volunteers profile and are now in the process of arranging home visits for them to meet before starting activities.

It is going to be another busy couple of weeks for our Activities and Volunteers Coordinators, Jess and Nikki who are busy making introductions and supporting at first activity visits, but we are all really looking forward to getting some of our current young people rematched and getting the young people we have taken off the waiting list started!

If you haven’t already there is still time to vote for us for the AVIVA community fund. Every vote makes a difference so we would really appreciate your support. We are also looking for donations for our Wokingham Winter Carnival bottle tombola. Alcohol, toiletries and soft drinks are welcome!

Last chance to book a place on the Challenging Behaviour Workshop on Wednesday 8th November, 6-9pm. For more details please visit our events page or click here to book your place.

“S enjoys taking part in activities that they did not like to do before, like cooking and taking part in big group games. Instead of always sitting in the corner they are now able to join the group without me even encouraging them to do so.”
