Getting ready for our first Teenager Day Away

This week our Manager Tess had a great turn out for her Supporting Behaviour Needs Course with 11 activity leaders from the local area attending. The training looked at effective methods to pre-empt and deescalate challenging behaviour. We received brilliant feedback from the course; everyone rated it as either good or excellent and the group felt that following the training they would be able to make changes in their activity setting to make it more inclusive. Check out our training page for details of upcoming Inclusion Training dates.

On Thursday we held a meeting for all the teenagers who are attending the pilot of our exciting new Day Away project which will be taking place in Bournemouth on 6th May. Everyone got to have a say on what they wanted to do on the day and they voted to go to the Oceanarium, followed by a ride on the land train. The day will finish with fish and chips at Harry Ramsden’s which overlooks the beach. We are all looking forward to a day out at the seaside thanks to support from The Wessex Youth Trust!

Our Fundraising Development Officer, Liz, was invited by Chris and Georgie to the SAGE Foundation this week to spread the word about how SAGE employee’s can use their volunteer days to support us.  In particular we are looking at help with marketing and fundraising.
