Fun and friendship – Weekend Away

Another busy week at the Me2 Club office. The AVCs have been visiting lots of different activities, including fireworks on Monday for bonfire night. Jess attended the Reading College job and volunteering fair and invites have been sent out for the Christmas Party and next ‘Day Away’.

The team has also been very busy preparing for our ‘Weekend Away’. We are looking forward to taking the group to PGL for lots of fun activities including the giant swing! The ‘Weekend Away’ has kindly been funded by NHS Fund for Carers awarded through Berkshire Community Foundation. On Sunday we will be taking a moment to remember all those who fought for their country as part of Remembrance Day.

We have a very exciting potential new project in the pipeline! If your child is 13+ and has additional needs please take part in our short survey, to help us gain evidence of the need to help address social isolation in teenagers/young adults through our potential new project of a ‘monthly meet up/mobile youth club’.

There is still time to get your entries in for the Christmas card competition. To enter, send a scanned copy of your design to info or post it to us at the office (Parkside House, Unit 6, 15 Headley Road, Woodley, RG5 4JB). The deadline for submissions is noon on Friday 16th November.

Tickets are still available for the Wokingham Borough Mayor’s Gala Ball. The event will be held on 9th March 2019 at Sindlesham Court. The event will include a drinks reception, a 3-course meal with Silver Service, dancing and entertainment. For more information and tickets please contact Liz.

Don’t forget when you are shopping in Tesco in the Woodley, Twyford or Henley-on-Thames stores to be on the lookout for the blue tokens. Please use them to vote for Me2 Club as part of the Tesco Community projects bags of help scheme.

It is so simple to use Amazon Smile to shop and donate to us at the same time!

Aimee and Catherine Vickery will be running a car boot sale for Me2 Club on Sunday 11th November at the Woodley precinct, 8am till 1pm. Be sure to pop along and show your support!

“C now has a small bunch of friends who he talks to about everything. At the start he appeared kind of lonely but over time he has integrated and has people to talk to about things he enjoys!”
