Sikh Vaisakhi procession supports Me2 Club
News from our Sikh Community
“We wanted to let you know the annual Sikh Vaisakhi procession (Nagar Kirtan) will be taking place on Sunday 5th May 2019.
Traffic on roads around Earley will be affected from about 11am – 3pm.
The procession will start from the Gurdwara at Cumberland Road and impact Cemetery Junction at about 11am. It will work it’s way up Wokingham Road arriving at Three Tuns at about 1pm. Church Road will then be impacted as the procession heads to the Sikh Centre on London Road. Finally London Road will be impacted around 2-3pm as the float returns to Cumberland Road.
To see the procession we would suggest heading to Palmer Park at about 11am so you are there when it passes. There will be free food served along the route, particularly at the Wokingham Road shops and at both Gurdwaras.
The procession seeks to raise awareness of the culture and identity of the Sikh Community and this year we are raising money for the Wokingham Borough Mayor’s Charity “Me2 Club” which enables children and young people with additional needs and disabilities to attend mainstream activities.
We hope to see you there!”
