Fabulous farm trip!

On Thursday 29th August, we took 9 Me2 Club children and 9 volunteers to Odds Farm Park for our summer ‘Day Away. Everyone arrived at the Me2 Club office to catch the coach and were greeted by the Wokingham Lions and their Mascot Leo. The Wokingham Lions supported this trip and our ‘Days Away’ project and came to wave us off as we left for the farm.

Once we arrived at Odds Farm Park we started the day with a tractor trailer ride around the farm. We got to see lots of the animals including sheep, cows, goats  and the pigs. Next, we headed to the animal barn. Each of the children received a bag of animal food to feed the goats and sheep, some of the children were nervous to begin with but were really proud when they gained the confidence to feed the animals themselves. Before lunch, the children and volunteers had fun going round the go kart track on the pedal go karts. It was lovely to see lots of them waiting patiently to be able to go on the double go kart together with their volunteer or other children. We had our packed lunches together before heading out to watch the piggies being fed their lunch!

Afterwards, we walked to the adventure playground where the children enjoyed some time playing together while others choose to chill out and enjoy the sunshine. We then went to the chicken coop where everyone got to feed the chickens before collecting their eggs! Next, we headed to the adventure maze and we were very pleased everyone made it round without getting lost, some of the children even managed to complete the maze in a speedy time of 3 minutes!

It was almost time to head home but we managed to go and see the goat show and enjoy some time in the soft play barn before going in the gift shop. All the children said they enjoyed the trip and would like to come on another ‘Day Away’. To see more photos from the day click here.
