Carols for Me2 Club

Sunday 9th December saw the Wokingham Borough School’s Carol Concert, a yearly fundraising event hosted by the Borough Mayor. The concert was produced in association with Berkshire Maestros and over 20 schools from across the Borough took part with over 300 children in the choir.

As Me2 Club is this year’s chosen charity of the Wokingham Borough Mayor, Cllr John Kaiser, we were invited to attend a reception before the concert. Over refreshments laid on by pupils from Addington School, we had the opportunity to talk to John Redwood MP, the High Sheriff of Berkshire, Graham Barker and his wife Joanna, plus WBC’s new Director of Children’s Services Carol Cammiss. All were interested to find out more about our work and our plans for the future.

After the concert we held a bucket collection and the generous audience donated £433 to help the children we support.

“S enjoys taking part in activities that they did not like to do before, like cooking and taking part in big group games. Instead of always sitting in the corner they are now able to join the group without me even encouraging them to do so.”
