Congratulations Ellie!

The last three weeks at Me2 Club have been a little quieter than normal with each of the team members taking some holiday before the start of the new term. This week has been busy with home visits with our Me2 Club young people and their new volunteers so they have a chance to get to know each other before the start of activities in September. We still need volunteers for our Volunteer Induction Training on 8th of September 9am-5pm in Woodley so more of our young people can start their activities. If you, or someone you know, could spare a couple of hours each week to help a young person with additional needs be included in a mainstream activity please check out our Volunteering Page and apply to come on our training.

We would all like to say a big ‘well done’ to Ellie, one of our past volunteers, who has recently been presented with a Freemasons of Berkshire Award through Wokingham Lodge School Awards Scheme in recognition of her outstanding work for charity. She visited the office to to present us with a cheque and said: “It means a lot to me to be recognised for the time I have given to charity and for more people to be aware of the fantastic work that Me2 Club does for their children!”. We also had a visit from one of our supporters from Haberdasher’s House at The Holt School, who have done some amazing fundraising work for Me2 Club, and who also received an award for her hard work. Thank you to both of the girls for choosing Me2 Club as their nominated charity and to receive a donation from The Freemasons of Berkshire, your support is much appreciated!

Plans are well underway for our Teenager ‘Weekend Away’ in September and we are excited to have the teenagers and volunteers into the office next week to choose which activities they would like to do. We have some exciting options such as the We The Curious Science Centre, the Zoo, mini golf, bowling and more, as well as some tasty restaurant options for dinner. We hope everyone is looking forward to another fun-filled weekend!

Me2 Club are pleased to announce that we have been chosen as one of the charity beneficiaries of the Wokingham Winter Carnival this year. If you can help us out on for a couple of hours on the stall at the event on Sunday 25th November please contact Liz@me2club.org.uk. We are also looking for bottles for our tombola and any donations, whether alcohol or smellies, would be very much appreciated.

Good luck to the 158 people who are taking part in the Virtual Thunder Run starting in September in aid of Me2 Club! We hope some of you will send us in your photos of your bling and we would like to thank you all for your support.
