An ‘Egg-ceptional’ Easter party

Me2 Club families came together for an exciting afternoon of crafts, an Easter Egg hunt and a visit by the Easter Bunny! The party started with crafts. The children had great fun making a chocolate nest, which they enjoyed eating straight away. Next was planting Marigolds followed by making a sock bunny and then Easter cards. The children also enjoyed having their face or arm painted, playing with trains and Duplo alongside refreshments of drinks and cakes being served throughout the party thanks to a donation from Sage.

Thank you to all our families for coming, the party was a great success.“Amazing – can’t fault a thing, as always great job Me2 Club” Me2 Club parent April 2019

Thank you also to our supporters: GroundworkThe Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh; Gymfinity Reading and Magal AWT.

On Friday 12th April, we took 10 of our young people and their volunteers to BCA for a Zoo Keeper Experience Day. Throughout the day the young people had the chance to try all the different jobs a zookeeper would do. They held the reptiles and insects, prepared lunch for lots of different animals then fed it to them, cleaned out the goat enclosure before taking the goats for a walk! We got to meet lots of different animals including Squirrel Monkeys, Ring-tailed Lemurs, Otters, Raccoons and even a Cookaburra! But highlight for a lot of our young people was meeting the Meerkats! In small groups the young people and their volunteers got to stroke the Meerkats and Porcupine. Some of the Meerkats even climbed on top of the young people to reach small pieces of food which the young people loved! To see more photos from the day please click here.

This trip was funded with money from the Wokingham Borough Mayor’s Gala Ball so thank you to everyone who supported that event for making this trip possible. Thanks also to our volunteers who supported the young people on the day, we would not have been able to take so many young people without your help!

“C now has a small bunch of friends who he talks to about everything. At the start he appeared kind of lonely but over time he has integrated and has people to talk to about things he enjoys!”
