A wonderful evening at the Mayor’s Gala Ball

On Saturday 9th March, 128 people had a brilliant night out at The Wokingham Borough Mayor’s Gala Ball. The evening at Sindlesham Court started with a drinks reception and music from Wallis Ferne before welcome speeches from Cllr John Kaiser and Me2 Club Manager, Tess. The guests enjoyed a 3-course meal and then had the chance to bid on some wonderful auction prizes kindly donated by our sponsors. There was also a raffle and lots of opportunities to dance to The Flashback Band and The Soundsmobile Roadshow. There was also a lot of fun around the casino tables, with croupiers Stuart and Samantha.

The evening has raised an incredible £12,642 for Me2 Club and with donations still coming in this will support many local children over the next year, starting with our next ‘Day Away’ in April. One guest told us, “It was a very enjoyable evening and the team and I were so pleased to hear that you managed to raise so much money!”

This week Liz attended LinkedIn training with Rachel Tombs from Links2leads. In the first of two training sessions, Liz learnt about keeping your page up to date, the importance of posting regularly and the use of photos. The aim of the 2 training sessions is to help us grow our corporate support. Click here to connect with us on LinkedIn!

On Wednesday, Alex & Nicola from the David Brownlow Charitable Foundation came to give us a donation from the charity. Alex had this to say – ‘We are delighted to continue our support for Me2 Club by awarding them a grant of £6,000, which will go towards their essential services.’  We would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ for this donation.

On Thursday Tess had a meeting with Elaine, Chris and Georgie from the Sage Foundation to discuss volunteering opportunities and working in partnership in the near future. Thank you to the Sage Foundation for your support.

“C now has a small bunch of friends who he talks to about everything. At the start he appeared kind of lonely but over time he has integrated and has people to talk to about things he enjoys!”
