A flurry of exciting events!

We have been busy this week with the final preparations for the 15th Birthday Celebration on Sunday and are all looking forward to seeing lots of our families and supporters there, including Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr John Kaiser. We are excited to have one of our parents making a special cake for the occasion and to be giving out our New Volunteering Awards during the AGM.

Liz was out yesterday at the FSI Fundraising Conference as part of Small Charities Week, she enjoyed hearing speakers from a wide variety of organisations including The Tudor Trust, The Leathersellers’ Company, Lloyds Bank Foundation & Big Lottery Fund. The question and answer session with the audience was also very useful and will help in the writing of future funding applications.

Tess has been out Harrison Clark Rickerbys Solicitors’ summer drinks networking event and gave a speech to spread the word about our work and was pleased to have been invited and being given the chance to speak to the attendees.

Jess has been out this week talking to students at Luckley House School in Wokingham about our charity and how they can get involved fundraising and volunteering with us. We are hoping to be at lots of local schools again in September to recruit new volunteers, if you have a group that may be interested in having a volunteer talk get in touch. We are running our next Volunteer Induction Training on 16th and 17th of July in Woodley so anyone interested in gaining experience with children with additional needs should send an application form to to confirm a place.

Please take a minute to vote for us in Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year by searching for Wokingham Ashridge Road Local store and choosing us online or if you are in-store you can vote using the tokens. Please hurry though as voting ends on 24th June!

“S enjoys taking part in activities that they did not like to do before, like cooking and taking part in big group games. Instead of always sitting in the corner they are now able to join the group without me even encouraging them to do so.”
