Teenager Weekend Away to Bristol!

On 22nd & 23rd of September we took 8 Teenagers on a Weekend Away to Bristol. We stayed overnight in the YHA Bristol and after we arrived on Saturday and settled in to our bedrooms we went straight out in Bristol city centre. The teenagers were given maps and with help from their volunteers they found a route to our first stop, Jungle Rumble Mini Golf. Despite the rain, we enjoyed the walk through Castle Park and navigating our way around the landmarks. We went round the Mini Golf as a big group and there was lots of competition between the teenagers and their volunteers for hole-in-ones! After golf, it was a short walk to our next and final stop of the evening The Lanes! We had a round of bowling with everyone taking part and getting some excellent scores, we then enjoyed some massive pizzas and finished the evening with a spot of Karaoke. The teenagers sang enthusiastic renditions of lots of songs including We will Rock You and Rock DJ. After the long day everyone went to bed and got up bright and early for our day at the Zoo! After a quick change of plans due to the Bristol Half Marathon we walked out to the coach and stopped off at a supermarket to pick up some picnic lunch. The sun shone on our visit to Bristol Zoo Gardens and we saw some fantastic animals including gorillas, meerkats, fruit bats and flamingos. After a smooth journey home everyone was glad to see their Mum’s and Dad’s and tell them all about the trip.

Thank you to everyone that came and made it such a special trip. Thanks also to The Wessex Youth Trust for part funding the Weekend Away and making it possible for us to take part in so many fantastic activities!
