Me2 Club receives donation from Morrisons Foundation

We are celebrating a funding boost following a £4,890 donation from the Morrisons Foundation, a charity set up by the supermarket. The donation will be used to recruit and train ten new volunteers who will provide support during activity trips and days out.

Liz McDaniel, Me2 Club’s Fundraising Development Officer said: “Like all small charities fundraising remains a priority which is why we were so excited to hear that we have been awarded a grant of £4,890 from the Morrisons Foundation. These funds will cover the costs of recruiting and on-going training of ten new volunteers, who will then support children at a weekly mainstream leisure activity of their choice, throughout a whole year.”

The Morrisons Foundation was established by Morrisons supermarkets in 2015 and receives most of its funding from the sale of single-use carrier bags. Since launching over £10 million has been donated for community projects.

The cheque was presented on behalf of the Morrisons Foundation by Jayne Allen, who works at the Morrisons store in Wokingham, who said: “We were delighted to hand over this cheque to a local charity which is helping people with additional needs and disabilities in our community.”
