Wokingham Walk Team sponsor 5 children for a year

Last Sunday, Tess and her team took part in the 10-mile route of the Wokingham Walk. This was a major challenge for Tess physically as 6 years ago, after a routine back operation went wrong, she was left bed-ridden for weeks and still struggles with walking long distances. This fundraising effort from Tess raised an amazing £1,095 on her JustGiving page and a grand total of £2,150 from the whole team. Liz, our Fundraising Development Officer also took part, as well as Elfi, our Trustee, partners and friends. They managed to complete the course in 3 hours 8 minutes! The money raised from the walk will be used to sponsor 5  young people at their activities and we would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the whole walking team for their amazing efforts and for going above and beyond to support Me2 Club.

Tess said “I’m delighted to have been able to complete the challenge. Knowing the funds will be helping children with additional needs access mainstream activities spurred me throughout the walk, thank you to everyone who sponsored us”

Thank you to everyone who donated, your support is greatly appreciated by Tess, Elfi (Me2 Club Trustee), Pete, Lisa, Liz, Kevin and Laura (Harrison Clarke Rickerbys) and most importantly, the 5 children who will be able to attend their weekly mainstream activity alongside their Me2 Club volunteer for a whole year thanks to the £2150 raised.

Could you walk or run a course for Me2 Club? If you already take part in local runs, like Woodley Parkrun, why not consider signing up to Virtual Runner and taking part in the Thunder Run in September!
