A lovely Charity Golf Day

With lots of our young people and their volunteers returning to activities, this week has been very busy for everyone in the office. It is great to see a few of our new children off the waiting list meeting their volunteers and starting at activities after the Easter break.

We would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to Easthampstead Rotary Club for choosing us as their main beneficiary for their Charity Golf Day, which they held at the prestigious Bearwood Lakes. Liz joined in on the day and enjoyed giving a talk about our work and how the support from the day would help our children and young people. The day wouldn’t have been as successful without the auctioning skills of Ady William from BBC Radio Berkshire! Thanks to everyone who took part and to everyone who donated auction prizes.

Tess, Jess and Nikki also ran the first part of Volunteer Induction Training on Thursday and we are all looking forward to working with the 8 new volunteers in the coming weeks. Thank you to Leah, one of our great volunteers, for coming along to talk about her experience with Me2 Club, and to the Holt School for providing the venue for our training session.

We were also excited to be on BBC Radio Berkshire this week to talk about the bunting our children and young people decorated at last weeks Easter party for the Royal Wedding! You can still watch it here or read the short piece in The Reading Chronicle. We are looking forward to seeing the completed bunting on the big day! If you would like to get involved, by decorating a piece of bunting, the public workshop is this Saturday at The Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading.

“C now has a small bunch of friends who he talks to about everything. At the start he appeared kind of lonely but over time he has integrated and has people to talk to about things he enjoys!”
