Welcome Jess and a successful Day Away!

This week we are very pleased to welcome Jess to the Me2 Club, who is joining us as maternity cover for our Activities and Volunteers Coordinator, Leanne. She has already been busy supporting on our Day Away and visiting the new families she will be working with. It’s great to have you as part of the team and we are all looking forward to working with you.

On Wednesday we took 10 of our Me2 Club young people to Cotswold Wildlife Park, which was the 2nd trip in our exciting new Days Away project. Highlights from the day included a trip on the train around the park, getting a close up view of the giraffes eating their lunch, making new friends and ice creams before the journey home. We received really positive feedback from everyone who attended, with all the young people and volunteers saying they enjoyed the day and would like to come on another Day Away with us. Thank you to Berkshire Community Foundation for funding the trip and to our wonderful volunteers who came along to support us, without you the trip would not have been possible. Photographs are now available on our Facebook page.

We are excited to say over the last week we have been addressing our waiting list and have been in contact with 8 of our families to arrange home visits, so we can start the matching process, after our next Volunteer Induction Training in October. We will be confirming the dates shortly so keep an eye out on our website and Facebook page for all the latest updates.

“My experience of volunteering with S is very rewarding and I enjoy my time when I am at Guides with her. Me2 Club has given us opportunities to do different things and have different experiences”.
